Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!!

Once again I am behind on this thing!
We recovered from our California/Disneyland trip!!! Hudson and I were both sick and he had "shared" pink eye with me =(
He absolutely LOVED it. It was so wonderful seeing the sparkle in his eyes when we walked around and saw all the attractions. It would have taken us at least a full two days to see all of Disney. We went to the areas that were geared more toward his age group. His favorite...Toon Town! Where we toured Mickey's house! He is still talking about the trip!

Christmas is 6 days away!! I can't believe how fast time has gone this year. Cody and I stayed up late last night putting Hud's "santa" toy together. It was so fun and he's going to love it.

                                                           Check that bad boy out!!!

We leave for the Gaylord Texan Wednesday morning!!!!! So excited to see Ice "Shrek the Halls" and snowtube! Hudson is going to go nuts. We have breakfast with Shrek Thursday morning. We need a little family get away and I can't wait to enjoy this time of year with my boys.

The Gaylord at Christmas

Shrek the Halls!!

Did I mention I have a two day work week and then I am off until the NEW YEAR!!! So crazy that 2012 is right around the corner. I can't wait to see what's in store for us.

Merry Christmas to all!!!!

Hell in a hand basket...Is that the saying?

Not sure but it describes our situation perfectly! HA. We leave for California tomorrow and these past few days have been hell. We picked Hudson up from daycare on Tuesday because they called and said he was picking at his scab on his face and that he was bleeding. So we just dropped him at Gram's the rest of the day. Wednesday morning he wakes up and I notice his left eye is gunky and red. GREAT! I call the pedi and describe his symptoms and she confirms it's pink eye and calls in some drops. So he misses Wednesday of daycare. He did not sleep well wednesday night because guess what....he has a cold on top of that. Runny/stuffy nose, coughing and a low grade fever. Poor baby. I hate seeing him in pain and sickly. We had a very rough night so I decided to take Thursday off and tend to him. Maybe not such a great idea. I end up getting a sore throat and a fever. AWESOME!! And for the cherry on top, as I was going to get him out of bed at 4:00am because he was crying, I notice my left eye was matted together. Are you serious? Looked in the mirror and sure enough, pink, runny matted together eye.
Maybe daycare was a bad idea?!?!? He has missed almost all of this week. And he'll miss Monday and Tuesday of next week. OYE!!
We have one more day to rest and get well before we board the plane to Cali and head to Disneyland. Prayers for us to get well!!!! (And Cody not to catch any of our sickness.)

VIVA CALIFORNIA!!!

Day 5...

Hello Friday! Daycare day number 5. We went through our normal routine this morning as I try and refrain from mentioning the word "daycare!" But leave it to my intelligent son to walk up and say "no daycare today mama!" I mean really?
Today is Pink Out Friday and the kids are encouraged to wear pink. Hud is sporting a pink vintage BSFD shirt. Vintage because Cody is no longer employed with them but we love the shirt anyway and the BSFD department as well.

Mia is picking him up today so I kept saying "Be a big boy and Mia will see you soon!" I guess that helped because as soon as we got to his class he whined a bit and was good to go! He gave me a kiss and walked to his table. WHAT?! As much as my heart jumped for joy that he wasn't going to throw a fit, a piece of me was wanting him to cling to me and not want to let go =(
As he was off playing his teacher asked me how he did with potty training at home. I said he does very well...with that she said they would start him in big boy undies and see how that would go! Hip hip hooray!!

What a sweet sweet day!! If every day can be like day 5....we'll be ok ;-)

On to getting ready for a garage sale this weekend. BLAH...

Day 3..

Well, Day 3 of Daycare......and we're still a hot mess! We had such a wonderful Tuesday though. Cody met us at the daycare when he got off shift and said good morning to Hudson. He wanted to see his class and meet his teacher. Maybe that was a bad idea for both of us to drop him off and abandon him =(
He screamed bloody murder. Cody grabbed my hand and basically pulled me away. We watched him on the monitor and maybe 5 minutes after he was ok. He sat down at one of the tables and it looked like he had picked up a toy and started playing. {{happy heart}}
When I picked him up he was playing in the jungle gym they have inside so I peeked around the corner and watched him play for about 10 min before he saw me. Cutest thing ever: "C'mon mom, come play!" Is what I heard. So his teacher let me in the gate and I watched him play and interact with the other kids. I even entertained a little boy with a game of peek-a-boo for a few seconds! His teacher told me he was a helper today and helped her throw the trash outside. As they were walking, an ambulance passed and he yelled "Ambulance!!" She was amazed that he knew that word. I told her his daddy was a fireman so we practiced those words frequently. =))

After we left we went and got him a haircut. I asked if was ready for daycare tomorrow and surprisingly he said "yea"
Well.... after getting ready this morning and not even mentioning daycare, as I was getting ready he clung to my leg and looked up at me and said "no daycare mama"
SERIOUSLY!!! What am I suposed to do with that? So I avoided the statement and put him in his car seat. As we drove off he asked "where we go mom" I said daycare baby to see your friends and it broke my heart to hear him say NO!

Tears again today. Although 3 other little ones also had tears this morning. Maybe they can all ban together and form a support group ;-)
But I watched on the monitor again for a few minutes and he was fine. I checked on him a little before he went to the cafeteria to eat and he was playing with another kiddo, so that eased my heart a little.

I catch myself looking at the clock to see if it's time to leave and pick up my boy! With every day I know it will get easier. Thank you Lord for that calming feeling.

XO.

Put your big girl pants on and suck it up..

A much as I'd like to say that I put on my big girl pants today to drop my 2 year old off at daycare, as I walked back to my car sobbing like a child who had just lost a puppy, I realized, I had NOT worn my big girl pants. I knew this day was coming, months turned in to weeks and weeks in to days and days in to hours. I pumped myself up yesterday and got all of Hudson's belongings together, labeled each item with his name and kept telling myself that everything was going to be just fine. We have been asking him for a few weeks if he's ready for daycare. Ready to meet new friends and play on the playground. His answers were different every day! Yes, he was ready. No, he wanted to stay with Gram and watch Lion King. =)

Today was the day! I didnt sleep well last night and woke up early, eager and excited and somewhat sad. My boy is growing up. FAST! We watched cartoons and ate cinnamon rolls and I said "Today is the day buddy, you get to meet new friends at daycare!" It eased my heart and mind that when I told him that he said "yay!"

In true Hudson fashion, as we walked up to the double glass doors and he waved and said hi to two or three different kids. I thought, ok he's going to be great! No worries. As I checked him in, I could see his eyes wondering and looking at at the workers and hearing all the children. He noticed the play area in front and immediately wanted to play! As I walked him to his class I could feel the tears welling up in my eyes. DANG IT, why didn't I wear waterproof mascara?!?!?
I dropped his things off to his teacher and noticed a little boy, who also was just starting daycare, crying and red faced. Hudson looked at him and looked back at me with a look like, "really mom, you are going to leave me here?" Then we both fell apart. He started saying "no, mama!" I kissed him and said I love you, be a big boy! And walked away. I watched him for about 10 min on a monitor they have have at the front and he would sneak past the teacher and try to open the door. Still crying, he tried everything to turn the door knob. My heart sank and I knew I had to let him cry it out. So I walked out the doors and proceeded to CRY in my car. I know he is in good hands and that the teachers there will take great care of him. I received a text from Gram when I got to work that really made things ok. "I have already asked God to keep him safe... and out of time out!" =)

Although this was a tough start, for both of us, I know this is where he is ment to be and that he will benefit from this. I hope he makes the greatest of friends and has a fun first day and every day after. And I hope we can look back at this when he is older and laugh together =)
Good luck angel baby! Mommy loves you<3

First day of Daycare! I swear he smiled right before I took this. He really was happy..before we got there!

Fall Frenzy!!

Howdy!!
So much has been happening lately I haven't had time to post an updated blog. (Imagine that)
Let's start with the A&M/Tech game....WHOOP! I rarely get to say that, so I do every chance I get. I get a small thrill teaching Hudson to "Gig Em" and say "whoop" to Cody! It's even better when the Aggs pull off a win. We had a few friends over that night to watch the game. It was pretty nerve racking because the Ranger's game was on at the same time as the football game. I switched back and forth like a mad woman. The Ranger's game was interrupted TWICE for a rain delay but they resumed and WON. Fast forward to game 6 and they won 15-5 beating Detroit for a chance at the WORLD SERIES!!! Yippee skippy

This past Saturday was our 15th annual Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes. (My 3rd Midland Walk to be a part of) We had a wonderful turn out and it was a beautiful day. We have raised close to $165,000! Just a little short of our $170,000 goal!!! And... we still have money coming in. This is such a great cause and I am honored to take part in this.

After the Walk, Hudson and I visited daddy on his frst shift as an MFD firefighter! He was only supposed to work from 9-5 but was called in for a 24 hr shift. Saturday was open house at Central Fire Station and we went up to check it out..

After visiting daddy Hudson and I went and picked out "mommy" "daddy" and "Hudson" pumpkins!! He picked out his own and it is so cute. We are decorating them when Cody gets off shift.

I am so pumped for our vacation in a few weeks to California. We are taking Hudson to Disneyland and I think I'm more excited than he is ;-)

19 days and counting'till DISNEY!!!!

We are half way through the month of October. I still can not beleive that. Hudson starts daycare next week and I am so nervous but yet so excited for him. I know he'll do great and enjoy interacting with kids his age. I know Gram will miss keeping him. We are so lucky to have had her retire and keep him in her home! She has taught him so much, I am forever grateful!!!!!!

XOXO

Hello Fall!

Well, technically it's fall, but West Texas seems to think it's still Summer. Temps were in the 80's yesterday and in the 90's the days before. Today it's sprinkling and we have a 20% chance of showers all day. Glorious news!! The Airsho is this weekend and we have been waiting to take Hudson. He loved it last year and cried when we had to leave. =(
He loves airplanes!

Cody has started his two week orientation with MFD!!! He's an 8 to 5er for two weeks and then he'll start at Central and rover around. I am so thrilled he is closer to home. =))

I just had my 28th birthday and it was so fabulous!! I swear, each year gets better and better. I got to sleep in while Cody got up with Hudson to watch cartoons. My favorite breakfast was cooked (biscuits and gravy, with bacon and eggs!) And a hot cup-o-joe was waiting for me. My husband is a bit of a spoiler and I LOVE IT! The rest of the day was relaxing and I went later that day to do a little "me" shopping followed by a family dinner with mama and Gram. I am so blessed to have the family and friends that I do, I cherish them more than words can describe. Oh, and the Ranger's pulled off a W on my birthday, making it that much greater. Followed by a series win yesterday!!!!!!!

After the Ranger's win!

We are planning a trip to Cali soon to see Poppi and Mimi and Disneyland is in the works! Both Cody and I had been when we were younger and we haven't been since. I am thrilled to be taking Hudson. He's a little obsessed with the Disney characters. He's loves Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Pluto and Goofy. We watch Mickey Mouse Club House every morning. I'm so excited to get to share this experience with him.

We have a movie night tonight, watching The Lion King!!! So excited.

Happy 4 Years Mr. & Mrs.

Today is our 4 year anniversary!! I can't believe it has been 4 years already. It's so wonderful to be married to my best friend. We've had our ups and downs but we've grown from every one of them and I am forever thankful of everything we have been through...together!

XOXOOX

I am noticing that some of the people who were pregnant around the same time I was are working on baby number 2 or even number 3. At times, I have an outragious case of baby fever but then I come back down to reality and realize we aren't done focusing on our little Hudson just yet. He has been such a blessing, such an easy, free spirited angel who has kept us on our toes. I want to enjoy just him for a little longer. I know he will be a terrific big brother. Plus, everyone says the 2nd is total opposite of the first and that means we'll have a little hell raiser. Hehe, j/k

Time has come to put him daycare. Wahhhhh. As excited as I am, I'm a little nervous as well. We've already had the conversation with Gram, who has kept him for two awesome years. She was the first to say that daycare would be a wonderful experience for him and that he'd be learning so much more and interacting with other children his age. She will miss him but knows what's best. We are shooting for the first of October and starting him at Wee Care. I have heard so many wonderful things about this daycare. I have a few mommy friends whose children attend. I toured the facility a few weeks ago and was very impressed. I want to stay the entire day when he first starts and just see the look on his face as he learns and plays with the other kids but I dont want to be that freak mother! I am so ready to embark on this journey with him =)

Here are some photo's from this past weekend when Hudson's godmother came to visit:

Terrific Two's

Terrific Two's!!! Instead of Terrible Two's...crossing my fingers..

Whew. Hudson's 2nd birthday party is a wrap. A big thanks to everyone who helped out and showed up. He is one blessed little boy.

We had the party at the Jumping Party, a huge building with 8 or 10 blow up bouncy houses. He had been once before to one of his friends parties and I thought it would be a great party place for his birthday. They pretty much do everything and provide certain things. I didn't like that we weren't able to get in the room until an hour after the party started but most of the kids were occupied and the parents were mingling =)

He got so many awesome presents!! Cody and I satyed up most of the night putting things together. A Harley Davidson beach chair, a Harley Davidson trycicle, a slide, two train track sets, and much much more!!!

Hudson has been in his big boy bed for almost two weeks now. He adjusted so well the first night and fell right asleep. The following days we'd occassionally hear him talking under the door asking where we were. "Momma, Daddy" It was hilarious. Once he was tired, he'd crawl right back in bed and fall asleep.
He's doing pretty well with potty training. Every now and then he'll have an accident in his undies but at least he's telling us he needs to potty. He isn't sleeping in big boy undies yet but we'll progress to that soon. It's amazing how fast he is learning things. He is talking in full sentences and counting to twenty!!! Saying the alphabet and singing along to some of his favorite cartoon music. He's such a ham.
We are taking him for donuts in the morning to celebrate his birthday! I can't believe that my baby will be *TWO* tomorrow at 9:35pm.

I toured a very highly recommended daycare last week to see how they operated. Hud is at that age where he needs to be interacting with children his age. Gram has cared for him and taught him so much in the past two years and I am forever grateful!! I just think it's time to have him in a daycare. I know this is going to be so tough on me but this is for his best interest and I know he will adjust so well and love it. I'm excited to see what the future holds for us.

Cody will be starting his new job in October and I am so proud of him. He will be employeed with the Midland Fire Department!!!!!! God has answered so many of our prayers, HE is so good ALL the time<3

Friday, August 12, 2011

Well that was a long three months with no blogging. But I'm back! And so much has happend. Let's start with planning a 2 year birthday party!!! Already! Time flies. We are having Hud's 2nd party at the Jumping Party, here in Midland. I only have a couple short weeks to plan so I'm focusing on all the details. Thomas the Train is the theme, because, let's face it, he's OBSESSED. I have found so many cute Thomas decorations.

We turned down a trip to NYC. A paid in FULL trip to NYC. (Can you tell I am a little bitter??) Well, it was my choice to turn down. Cody was invited to play with the Midland Fire Department softball team. They had mentioned to him a few months back that they may need him but weren't 100% sure. Two weeks before the trip, we get a call that they do, in fact need him. Flight and hotel paid in FULL for him and myself.... Here's the catch: We'd be gone 9 days! We'd miss Hudson's actual birthday and his party was scheduled for a the day after we would be leaving. I have only been away from him a full 3 days..once! I can't imagine a full 9 days. Also, we'd be missing Hudson's godmother and my friend Kristen coming in town for Labor day weekend. I know I sound crazy but it just didn't feel right accepting this trip last minute and being gone so long. But GOOD NEWS, Ireland is in the works in two years so we're hoping to be invited to that! =))

My very dear friend Laural is getting married this weekend!!!! So very excited to be there with her to share this moment. The wedding will be in her parent's AMAZING back yard in Greenwood. Today we are getting pampered and taking her to lunch her last day as a single lady =)

Work is getting busier, we are less than 6 weeks away from the Odessa Walk!! If you are interested, you can check out our website and register or be a virtual walker. www.diabetes.org/stepout
Midland's walk will be shortly after that!

Cody has his final interview for MFD with the head chief Tuesday August 23rd. We will hear something shortly (hopefully) after that. Fingers crossed!!

Hudson had his 2 year photo shoot with Mallory last week and I can't wait to see the gallery. She gave me a sneek peak a few days agao and my boy looks so grown up and handsome.

Hopefully I will keep up with this a little better..untill then...see ya soon!

Easter 2011

Once again, I'm slow as Christmas blogging about Easter. Hud had a great Easter weekend. Kristen came in town (Hudson's godmother) and we had a blast. We took him to a church down the street from us and he hunted for eggs. It's so amazign to see his eyes light up and truely enjoy holidays 100 times more now that Cody and I have a child. I now know the excitement my parents had when holidays came around.
Sunday we left for O'Donnell to hang out with Cody's family and let the kids hunt for goodies. Hudson loves being around his cousins so it was a great time!
He turned 20 months at the end of April. It's so amazing to hear him talk and see the things he can accomplish. He's talking in sentences, sometimes in jibberish and daydreaming all the time. He amazes me. We read to him every night before bed and he is getting to the point of almost reading to us! He's so smart. We play with letters in the bath tub and we can say "Find this letter" "B" and he will pick up the B. We've almost got the whole alphabet down =)

We have got such a busy month/summer!!!!! This weekend we are headed to Quanah to see my dear friend Mackenzie get married. <3

45 days until we leave for vegas and Emily gets married!! So many great things happening.
I am looking forward to my second Mother's day this Sunday.

No bueno, but here's a quick update from the Q's..

We have such a busy few months ahead and Easter is just around the corner. Little man is 19 months and smart as a whip, I kid you not.  He does a few or a ton of things that amaze me on a daily basis. He's starting to make sentences and it's the cutest thing.

* The following Saturday is Emily's lingerie shower =)
*And the next weekend is my KK's wedding in Quanah! So very excited for her and her new family

18 Months!!!

Oh how I wish I could keep up with this thing! My pictures are out of wack, my background is non existant...it's a mess. Anyway...exciting news...Someone turned 18 months old!!!!!! I can't believe it. Hudson turned 18 months the 28th of February. At 18 months he is all over the place, a big ball of energy. He's being a very picky eater and doesn't have a wide variety of foods he'll eat. It's mainly mac n cheese, potatoes, some meats, cheese, yogurt, fruit, NO VEGGIES and anything sweet. And he's doing this weird thing where he puts everything in his mouth but spits it out and looks at it. ?!?!? if he likes it, he puts it back in, if not, he hands it over to me...thanks baby. We converted his pack in play over at Gram's house to a toddler bed and boy that has been a challenge. His morning naps are no prob. Gram sometimes lays with him and he falls asleep fast. Afternoon naps are a struggle and he's a hot mess come 6:00! We were thinking of nixing out the afternoon naps all together but he is a winey mess late in the afternoon. He just knows he has freedom in that bed and has no boundries and gets up and walks out of the room. He's hilarious and is such a ham. He loves attention and will be sure to grab yours. He's learning so quickly, and is the most precious thing in my life. I'm starting to research daycares and I'm scared out of my mind. At least by the time he is two, I'd like to have him around other children and get him used to the daycare environment. We have been so blessed having Gram watch him. I wouldn't have changed it for the world. But I will so be that crazy mom who shows up everyday to check on him ;-)

I love Spring and all the warm weather it brings minus the winds. Speaking of winds, Cody worked with the Texas Forest Service last Sunday and put out at least 5 different grass fires. Winds got up to around 60-70 mph (maybe even higher) but it was pure mayhem! Very scary, but he is amazing and seems to be fearless when it comes to helping other and being selfless. He's my HERO!

Weddings, Weddings, OH MY!! Some of my dearest and bestest friends are getting married this year! If you know me, I LOVE WEDDINGS. For the past couple of years, the majority of my close girlfriends were all in serious relationships, but nothing more. Marriage had been discussed in some of them, but nothing in the near future. I was the early bird and got hitched in 2007. Since that time I have been (not so) patientally waiting for someone, just one of them to get engaged. Holy Moly! First it was my dear friend Emily, then Ciji followed, then Nikki and then Laural!! It was such a special time for all of them and they were all on cloud 9! They all have wonderful finaces and I am truly so excited for them all. Emily's wedding will be in Las Vegas and I can not begin to tell you how excited I am for all of the festivities. A wedding and a quick get away with all my favorite people. =)
Bring on the crazy few months ahead. I am ready to enjoy it with my closest friends and family.

Blessings!!

Growing, Growing, Growing.....

So, should I be happy that the lady in Wee Gems (nursery at Stonegate) asked how old Hudson was this past Sunday, my response "16 months" hers, "he's very advanced for this group.." or should I be a little sad that my baby boy is really not a baby anymore?? I actually got to rock him back to sleep last night and reminisce on his infant days. I could have rocked him all night but my eyelids were thinking otherwise. It's not often he sits still long enough for me to snatch a kiss here and there, so I cherish every moment I get like this.

Funny story: Cody and I headed to HEB last week to stock up on groceries. Everytime we go we usually get enough for a month or more. Well we hadn't been in a while and we stocked up on EVERYTHING. Mind you, we are a family of three and Cody and I are pretty avid eaters and our son follows close behind (although he has been very picky lately, not liking that at all) Our bill was pretty steep and when our total came up we both kinda gasped and looked at each other and laughed. I'm sure that is no where near the amout we will be spending when our litle munchkin is in elementary, not to mention jr high and high school. Oh, the days I am looking forward to. But not rushing it by any means.

We've been working on our alphabet! He is trying so hard to repeat the letters after me. Such a smart cookie<3

Well hello there 2011..

I have been such a slacker on this thing. So much has happend, it's already a new year! Let's start off by saying a few words about our 16 month old!!!!!!! Agh. Hudson turned 16 months on New Years Eve. Funny, because two years to the day our Dr. confirmed I was pregnant after me freaking out and taking 3 tests that all showed NEGATIVE but still had no monthly visitor. Ok, TMI. Anywho, we also lost such an amazing man two years ago. Big T, Tommy Casbeer was such a big part of my life and such an entertainer. I had grown up with his daughter Ciji and we have been bff's since 7th grade. His death was very unexpected and heart breaking. He was such a joy to be around and almost like a second father. My heart ached for the family when I heard the news. But what a celebration we had to celebrate his short time here on earth. I know he is probably teaching the angels a thing or two about having a good time ;-)

Our toddler is a maniac. He is learning at such a rapid rate of speed. Repeating everything he hears, saying a plethera of words. Climbing on everything and being such a dare devil! Scaring me to death.

We had such a wonderful Christmas. I was off almost two weeks working a few hald days and enjoying just being lazy and hanging out with my family. We are so blessed every year and never really expect any presents from anyone but we always receive more than we deserve. Hudson made a haul as usual and we have toys busting at the seams out of our house. The HUGE toy box we had built as a gift  is full to the brim. He's a lucky lucky boy.

We had a great New Year's Eve. Cody was off and we lounged at the house being lazy. We went to dinner with some great friends and ended up over at a friends house around the fire while we watched it SNOW!!! Crazy West Texas Weather!!!! The day before it was around 60 degrees.

Oh 2011 be good to us. 2010 was such an amazing year =)
